Amamiguntou National Park
Amami Archipelago National Park is a national park designated for its value of the diverse and rich ecosystems and environmental culture (landscapes and climates formed through the relationship between people and nature) of the eight inhabited islands of the Amami Archipelago, which was registered as a World Natural Heritage site due to its rich biodiversity. The island was cut off from the continent by the Late Miocene (about 12 million to 500 years ago), and creatures such as the Amami rabbit have become dependent endemic species that still live there today.
