Yambaru National Park
Yanbaru National Park is located in the northern part of Okinawa Island and was designated as the 33rd national park on September 15, 2016. It is home to one of the largest subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests in Japan, and is home to a wide variety of endemic and rare flora and fauna, including the Okinawa rail, against the backdrop of the islands' geological history, which was formed by the formation of the Ryukyu Islands. It also has a diverse natural environment, including limestone sea cliffs, karst topography, and mangrove forests. Yanbaru National Park is also characterized by its cultural landscape, which is filled with the traditional Yanbaru spirit that has been nurtured by daily life in this natural environment. In Yanbaru National Park, leisure activities such as scenic tours, trekking, canoeing, animal watching, and driving are actively carried out in this subtropical natural setting, providing visitors with a place and opportunity to interact with nature in a quality environment.
