Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024

Tome Food and Agriculture Experience Network

[About Our Organization]
Our council was established in 2017 with the goal of enhancing regional resources into attractive agritourism experiences. The members include Tome City, Brand Research Institute Co., Ltd., and IZUNUMA NOSAN(Izunuma Agricultural Co., Ltd). Our activities are focused in Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture, where IZUNUMA NOSAN(Izunuma Agricultural Co., Ltd.) serves as the concierge, offering a variety of activities.

[Regional Overview]
Tome City is located on the border with Iwate Prefecture. Agriculture and livestock farming are thriving here, with the highest agricultural output in the prefecture.

Known as "Miyagi's Meiji Village," Tome Town features the surviving Meiji-era elementary school, as well as the historic Mizusawa Prefectural Office and police station that convey the essence of the time.

"Izunuma and Uchinuma" in the western part of the city were designated as Ramsar Wetlands in 1985, making it the second such site in Japan. It is the largest lowland lake in the Tohoku region, with a water surface area of 387 hectares. In summer, the lotus flower blooms on the lake, and in winter, the number of migratory birds is said to be the highest in Japan.

The natural experiences in "Izunuma and Uchinuma" are truly spectacular! Enjoy a lotus flower cruise, experience the highest number of migratory birds in East Asia through bird watching-unique content that cannot be experienced elsewhere. Additionally, we offer programs that include interactions with producers and local residents, featuring local ingredients such as Sendai beef, Date's purebred red pork (a local specialty), environmentally-friendly rice, and traditional dishes, differentiating us from urban content.
