Tourism EXPO Japan 2025 Aichi/Central Japan

Handa City
Handa City, located in Aichi Prefecture, is a place rich in history and culture, home to attractions such as the Dashi Festival, Handa Canal, the hometown of author Nankichi Niimi, and the Handa Red Brick Building.
The city's vibrant dashi (festival float) culture dates back over 300 years. Every five years, the spectacular Handa Dashi Festival brings together 31 elaborately decorated floats from 10 districts, attracting large crowds of visitors.
The scenic Handa Canal area is lined with traditional storehouses that reflect beautifully on the water, and features facilities where visitors can learn about the city's brewing and fermentation culture, making it a popular walking spot.
Handa is also the birthplace of Nankichi Niimi, the beloved author of Gon, the Little Fox. The Niimi Nankichi Memorial Museum displays his handwritten diaries and manuscripts, while the Yakachigawa embankment nearby is known for its breathtaking display of three million red spider lilies in autumn.
The historic Handa Red Brick Building, originally constructed as a brewery for Kabuto Beer, is a nationally registered tangible cultural property and a modern industrial heritage site from the Meiji era. Inside, visitors can explore exhibits on the building's history and the Kabuto Beer legacy—and even enjoy a taste of the revived beer itself.
Come and experience the harmony of tradition and innovation in Handa.
