Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024
Kozagawa Tourism Association
Kozagawa Town is located at the southernmost tip of Honshu, Wakayama Prefecture, a little north of Kushimoto Town, and has one of the clearest rivers in the Kansai region, the Kozagawa River.
It is located about 3 hours and 30 minutes from Osaka by both car and train, about 4 hours from Nagoya by both car and train, and about 1 hour from Tokyo by plane from Haneda to Nanki-Shirahama and 1 hour by car from the airport.
The features of Kozagawa can be briefly summarized as follows
Sightseeing: 1. "Ichimaiwa," Japan's largest monolithic rock formation, 300 m wide and 100 m high, and a designated national natural monument
2. "Mushigui Iwa" in Takaike, a nationally designated natural monument
(The above is related to Hashigui-iwa in Kushimoto as the Kozagawa arcuate rock vein body.)
3. "Taki no Hai", a natural monument designated by the prefecture, boasting a mysterious landscape.
(The above three sites are geosites of the Nanki-Kumano Geopark.)
4. "3,000 Someiyoshino" cherry trees lining the shores of Nanagawa Dam, selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots.
5. "Kumanozakura type tree" recognized as a new species for the first time in about 100 years (the tree that became the standard)
6. "Waterfalls" with fantastic scenery unique to this unexplored region
7. "Starry sky" where you can even see the Milky Way due to the lack of artificial light
Activities: 1. River play in the clear stream where you can clearly see the bottom of the river at a depth of 3 meters depending on the conditions. 2.
2. Outdoor tent sauna using the clear Kozagawa River as a water bath
3. Canoeing and SUP for beginners as the water is relatively calm and shallow.
4. Trekking along the Kumano Kodo "Nakaheji" and "Oheji," which is known as the "Kumano-Koza Kaido" in Ryotaro Shiba's "Kaido Yuku" series of books.
5. cycling on a professional course, which is also the stage of an international bicycle road race, etc.
Although the size of the road makes it difficult to accommodate large buses, many sightseeing tours are offered by medium-sized buses, and the course, which has no traffic lights and is the stage for international bicycle races, is ideal for cycling camp tours, etc.
It is located about 3 hours and 30 minutes from Osaka by both car and train, about 4 hours from Nagoya by both car and train, and about 1 hour from Tokyo by plane from Haneda to Nanki-Shirahama and 1 hour by car from the airport.
