The Annevoie Gardens
- A Unique Water Garden and Vineyard to Combine with Dinant
Located just 20 minutes from Dinant, the Gardens of Annevoie are an ideal stop on a Haute-Meuse itinerary. They can easily be combined with the Citadel of Dinant, a cruise on the Meuse River, Freÿr Castle, and Vêves Castle, making it possible to create a full-day itinerary that combines heritage, nature, and gastronomy.
Created in 1758, the Gardens of Annevoie are the only water gardens in Belgium. Their fountains, waterfalls, and water features operate entirely by natural gravity, without the use of any pumps. The harmonious blend of French, Italian, and English garden styles offers visitors an elegant and peaceful walking experience.
In 2020, an 11.5-hectare vineyard was established on the hills surrounding the estate. Benefiting from the unique terroir of the Haute-Meuse region, organically grown grape varieties are used to produce still white wines and traditional-method sparkling wines. The wines are vinified in the château's former farm buildings, allowing visitors to enjoy both the gardens and locally produced wines in one destination.
Combining historic gardens, wine tourism, and outstanding natural scenery, the Gardens of Annevoie are a perfect complement to Dinant and offer excellent opportunities for developing attractive itineraries for both group tours and independent travelers.
