Tourism EXPO Japan 2026
SUMIDA AQUARIUM
Sumida Aquarium is a fully indoor aquarium located on the 5th and 6th floors of Tokyo Solamachi® in Tokyo Skytree Town®. With "Closer to Nature, Closer to You" as our communication concept, our exhibits are characterized by allowing visitors to feel the breathing of living things up close, featuring tanks that can be viewed from 360 degrees and displays that can be observed without going through acrylic panels. In addition, there is no set route inside the building, and chairs and sofas are installed in various places, allowing you to spend time relaxing in your favorite spot just like in a park.
There are various areas, including Aqua Design Amano's Nature Aquarium "Natural Aquascape," which is featured in only two aquariums in the world; an indoor, open, pool-type tank where penguins and fur seals live; the Ogasawara Area where you can experience the Ogasawara Islands, a World Natural Heritage site and a Tokyo island located 1,000 km away from Tokyo; "Edorium," a goldfish exhibit where you can experience Tokyo's culture and tradition; and "Big Schale," a basin-type tank with about 500 drifting jellyfish where you can enjoy a new sensation as if you are standing on top of a sea where jellyfish drift.
We are actively carrying out activities to pass on to future children (AQTION!), such as marine conservation activities, regional cooperation, and an area where free workshops can be held every day.
We have also made arrangements so that general groups and school groups can easily use our facility. For school groups, we can actively accept admissions for group-based activities, allowing students to enjoy the area around Asakusa and Oshiage (including Tokyo Skytree Town and Solamachi) without using public transportation and without being bound by time. In addition, we are promoting various ways to utilize the space, such as exclusive nighttime rentals of Sumida Aquarium and photo weddings, which allow for the effective use of the night.
