Tourism EXPO Japan 2025 Aichi/Central Japan

Kyoto Miyama Tourism Association

Located about a 90-minute drive from Kyoto City, Miyama is a peaceful rural area known for its rich natural surroundings and traditional thatched-roof houses. One of its highlights is the "Miyama's Thatched Village(Kayabuki no Sato)", where 39 beautifully preserved thatched houses create a timeless scene straight out of old Japan. Nearby, the "Ashiu Forest," is a large forest rich in diverse plant and animal life, offering nature lovers a beautiful place to explore.

Recognized for its harmonious blend of nature and traditional life, the entire Miyama area became part of the Kyoto Tamba Kogen Quasi-National Park in 2016. In 2021, Miyama was also recognized by UN Tourism as a "Best Tourism Village" for its commitment to sustainable tourism.

At our booth, discover the unique charm of Miyama through experiences like staying overnight in a thatched house, joining guided tours through the Thatched Village with local English-speaking guides, and interacting with residents to learn about rural life.
Please stop by the "Countryside Stay" booth and get a taste of Miyama's timeless beauty and warm hospitality.
