Mt. Minobu is a Buddhism sacred mountain town with more than 30 temples, which have been accommodating pilgrims over 750 years - a "hidden gem" destination in western Mt. Fuji area, which is easy to access from Tokyo and Tokaido bullet train route.
Here you can find and experience rich cultural heritages - esoteric Buddhism rituals, traditional temple architecture, traditional paintings, sculpture, craftsmanship (Washi paper making, seal carving, inkstone carving, Kintsugi etc.), court music, traditional drum performance, tea ceremony, calligraphy, Shojin cuisine, Buddhism meditations - all kinds of essential factors which lay the base of the traditional Japanese spiritual culture.
They are not very well commercialized for tourism transactions, but are the real aspects of the daily life in this historic town.
