Tourism EXPO Japan 2025 Aichi/Central Japan

Echizen City

The project is perfect for "recruitment type," "group," and "gourmet" plans, introducing the "ultimate gourmet topic" that can't be beaten anywhere else. First, try Googling "Japan's most delicious soba."

Echizen City, the birthplace of Echizen Oroshi Soba, is located about 2 hours by car from Nagoya. The city, known as the "city of soba," boasts 40-50 shops, each offering its own proud soba. The city's tourism association has launched the "Best Soba Restaurant in Japan - Echizen City" project, with the mayor of Echizen serving as the chairman and seven dedicated soba craftsmen striving to perfect their soba. Furthermore, a soba food tour event is scheduled for January next year. Last year's event featured a soba general election where the most popular menu from each shop was chosen. This time, a new soba menu themed around the winter delicacy of the Japan Sea, the "crab," will be introduced. Please come for a preview. We are also open to discussing arrangements tailored to your tour plans.

Additionally, next year's Taiga drama is "The Toyotomi Brothers," and our city has close ties to Hideyoshi. Here, Hideyoshi set up his camp (Ryumonji Castle) to suppress the Ikko rebellion of Echizen, and his ally, Maeda Toshiie of Kaga, built his first castle (Echizen Fuchu Castle) here. Our city, untouched by war or disasters, still retains a historic and emotional atmosphere of a Sengoku castle town. The central part of the old town is crossed by the Hokuriku highway, with samurai districts to the east, temple districts to the west, and post towns along the highway and alleys, preserving the streets of merchant and artisan towns. You can easily learn about the Sengoku castle town by walking 30 minutes to an hour. With the guidance of local volunteer tour guides (2,000 yen per group), you can enjoy strolling through the town.

After savoring the Echizen soba that even soba enthusiasts rave about, why not plan an original tour unique to your company, combining a town walk tailored to the Taiga drama?
