Echizen City, the birthplace of Echizen Oroshi Soba, is located about 2 hours by car from Nagoya. The city, known as the "city of soba," boasts 40-50 shops, each offering its own proud soba. The city's tourism association has launched the "Best Soba Restaurant in Japan - Echizen City" project, with the mayor of Echizen serving as the chairman and seven dedicated soba craftsmen striving to perfect their soba. Furthermore, a soba food tour event is scheduled for January next year. Last year's event featured a soba general election where the most popular menu from each shop was chosen. This time, a new soba menu themed around the winter delicacy of the Japan Sea, the "crab," will be introduced. Please come for a preview.
