Meiwa Town
Meiwa Town, Mie Prefecture: A Town Where a History of Prayer Meets the Blessings of Nature
Meiwa Town is located in the central-southern part of Mie Prefecture, situated between Ise City and Matsusaka City.
This was once the site of "Saiku," the palace where the "Saio," an unmarried imperial princess, lived and served at Ise Grand Shrine on behalf of the emperor.
In 2015, the story of Saiku and the Saio was designated as a Japan Heritage site, and 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of this recognition.
In addition to its rich history, the town is also blessed with natural beauty, featuring the stunning Oyodo Coast, where sea turtles come to lay their eggs, and idyllic rural landscapes.
The town's official mascot, "Meihime," is also energetically promoting the charms of Meiwa Town!
A memorable and wonderful time awaits you in Meiwa, a town where history and nature are beautifully woven together.
