Matsusaka City
Located in the heart of Mie Prefecture, known as "The Heart of Mie," Matsusaka City is easily accessible, taking about 70 minutes by train from Nagoya and about 90 minutes from Osaka. Matsusaka is a city where you can encounter "the real thing" in every sense—from world-renowned "Matsusaka Beef" and other gourmet delights to historic townscapes that still echo with the spirit of the wealthy merchants of the past.
After soaking in the historic atmosphere of the city, which flourished as a post town for travelers on their way to Ise Jingu during the Edo period (1603-1867), we highly recommend heading to the "Kahada Valley Area" in the western part of the city. Stretching along the clear waters of the Kushida River, this area is a treasure trove of nature. You can enjoy an active holiday by hiking the "Kahada Eleven" mountains or canoeing on the beautiful, clear river. After your adventures, there is no better way to unwind than by relaxing in the magnificent scenery at "Iitaka-no-Yu," a hot spring located at Iitaka Roadside Station.
To wrap up your journey, be sure to savor exquisite Matsusaka Beef, the locally-loved "Matsusaka Chicken Yakiniku," and the aromatic "Matsusaka Tea." Why not take a trip to Matsusaka, where history, nature, and food are packed into one incredible experience?
★ We are giving away special Matsusaka City novelty items to those who complete our questionnaire at "The Heart of Mie" booth! We look forward to welcoming you.
