Saiku: The Palace of Saio - the Imperial Princess Prays

Meiwa Town in Mie Prefecture has long had a deep connection with Ise Jingu Shrine, with historical assets such as Saiku, the ancient imperial residence, and the Saio, the imperial princess who served Ise Jingu on behalf of the Emperor. The town is also home to the Ise Kaido Road, once traveled by countless pilgrims during the Edo period, and offers a rich concentration of historical and cultural tourism resources within the Ise-Shima area.

Today, Meiwa Town is developing tourism products that make use of these regional assets, including Heian-period costume experiences, guided tours of the Saiku historic site and Ise Kaido Road, cycling tours, and other cultural experience programs designed to enhance visitor engagement and length of stay.

These initiatives are led by the Meiwa Tourism Trading Company, a regional DMO, which works closely with local businesses and handles tour development, visitor coordination, and sales in an integrated manner.

We welcome inquiries from travel agencies and tourism-related businesses interested in developing new excursion programs in the Ise-Shima area, educational travel, group tours, or locally based travel products. Please feel free to contact the Meiwa Tourism Trading Company.
