Tourism EXPO Japan 2026

Sabae City

Sabae City, located in Fukui Prefecture, is a center of Japanese craftsmanship and manufacturing, renowned for its eyewear industry, which produces approximately 90% of Japan's eyeglass frames, its highly advanced textile industry, and Echizen Lacquerware with a history spanning more than 1,500 years.

The surrounding area is also home to many world-renowned traditional industries, including Echizen Cutlery, Echizen Washi Paper, and Echizen Joinery in Echizen City, as well as Echizen Pottery in Echizen Town. Through factory tours, craft workshops, and other hands-on experiences, visitors can discover the skills and traditions that make this region a leading destination for industrial tourism.

In addition, the area offers a rich culinary culture featuring fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan, Echizen soba noodles, and locally brewed sake.

Centered around Sabae City, the Tannan area is a unique destination where traditional crafts and food culture come together. We invite you to enjoy special experiences that can only be found here through seeing, touching, and tasting the region's unique heritage and culture.
