Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024

Izumi city

Izumi City is located in the northwestern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is an hour's drive from Kagoshima Airport and approximately 4 hours from Shin-Osaka Station to Izumi Station on the Kyushu Shinkansen Line, making it easily accessible from the Kanto and Kansai regions.
In Izumi City, more than 10,000 cranes overwinter each year. The sight of these cranes gracefully spreading their wings and flapping their wings in the sky is a unique winter scene in Izumi that cannot be seen anywhere else. Izumi City was registered as a Ramsar Convention wetland in November 2021 as a "wintering site for cranes in Izumi." Izumi City was certified as a Ramsar Convention wetland municipality in May 2022, and an eco-tour guide group was established on this occasion.
At IZUMI FUMOTO, one of the largest groups of samurai residences in Japan, visitors can try on kimonos, sightseeing oxcarts, and more. In addition, the hotel "RITA Izumi-Fumoto," which was selected as one of the top 100 hotels and inns in Japan Brand Collection 2024, is a hotel that operates three accommodation buildings that have been restored from old private homes.
Idyllic scenery of the town surrounded by nature as well as cranes and samurai residences make Izumi an ideal destination for a photogenic trip.
