SAYUWON
Sayuwon is an arboretum and cultural destination located at the foot of Palgongsan Mountain in Gunwi, Daegu, South Korea. Approximately one hour by car from central Daegu, it spans around 52,000 square metres, where ancient trees, gardens, architecture and art come together in harmony.
Its signature garden, Pungseol Gicheonyeon, is home to 108 Chinese quince trees with an average age of more than 300 years. Created with respect for these centuries-old trees and the natural terrain of Palgongsan Mountain, the garden reveals a different landscape with every change of season, light and wind.
Sayuwon's architecture and landscape were shaped with contributions from experts across various disciplines, including Pritzker Prize-winning architect Álvaro Siza, architect Seung H-Sang, and landscape architects Matsunobu Kawagishi and Youngsun Jung. Visitors can walk slowly through the gardens, appreciate the trees and architecture, and enjoy expert-led tours, seasonal walks, wellness experiences, Korean and Western dining, cafés, performances and cultural programmes.
