Tourism EXPO Japan 2026

Kasama and Mashiko: The Story Woven by Twin Pottery-Making Districts

At the "Kuno Toen," a constituent cultural asset of the Japan Heritage "Kasama-Mashiko"—which serves as the root of both Kasama and Mashiko ware—we offer a rare opportunity to participate in a collaborative wood-firing process in a climbing kiln. This unique experience is also available as a nighttime tourism program combined with an overnight stay.

Furthermore, you can enjoy these experiences in settings of historic and aesthetic significance. The "Gohan no Okigae" (Tableware Change) program, which allows you to dine using a diverse array of ceramics, is hosted at the "Kasama-no-ie" (House of Kasama), an early work by the renowned architect Toyo Ito. The "Selectable Matcha Experience" takes place at the "Shunpu Banriso," the former residence of the multi-talented artist Rosanjin Kitaoji. We invite you to savor these moments within these remarkable architectural treasures.
