Tourism EXPO Japan 2026

Mie Cruise Promotion Conference / Yokkaichi Port Cruise Committee

In April 2018, Mie Prefecture established the Mie Prefecture Cruise Promotion Council to further enhance its cruise ship reception system and encourage cruise passengers to visit destinations throughout the prefecture. The council is composed of municipalities, cruise promotion organizations, tourism associations and other related bodies, and works together as "All Mie" to strengthen hospitality and reception services at ports when cruise ships call in the prefecture.

In May 2025, a number of cruise ships made their first calls at Toba Port in Toba City, including Scenic Eclipse II, Viking Eden, MITSUI OCEAN FUJI and Le Soléal.

Yokkaichi Port, Mie Prefecture's largest industrial port, is also working to attract cruise ships as part of its efforts to create a more welcoming port and promote tourism. In May 2011, the Yokkaichi Port Cruise Promotion Council was established for this purpose. In 2018, Yokkaichi Port welcomed its first foreign cruise ship, and since then it has continued to actively promote the port as a destination for both domestic and international cruises.

Located in Mie Prefecture, almost in the center of Japan, Yokkaichi Port offers excellent access to sightseeing destinations throughout the prefecture. Cruise passengers can enjoy a wide variety of attractive shore excursions from the port.

In northern Mie, close to Nagoya, visitors can enjoy Nagashima Resort, one of Japan's largest leisure resorts, featuring an amusement park, outlet shopping and hot spring facilities; Nabana no Sato, famous for its spectacular illuminations and seasonal flowers; Rokkaen, a historic residence showcasing architecture from the Meiji and Taisho periods; the Gozaisho Ropeway, offering beautiful seasonal scenery; and Seki-juku, which flourished as the 47th post town on the historic Tokaido road.

In central Mie, highlights include Takada Honzan Senjuji Temple, home to the first buildings in Mie Prefecture designated as National Treasures; the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum and Iga Ueno Castle in Iga, the home of Iga-ryu ninja culture; and Matsusaka Castle and Gojoban Yashiki in Matsusaka City, which is famous for Matsusaka beef. Each area also offers enjoyable opportunities for strolling through historic streets and local neighborhoods.

In southern Mie, including the Ise-Shima area, visitors will find some of the prefecture's most iconic destinations, such as Ise Jingu and Okage Yokocho. The surrounding area is full of attractions, including Toba Aquarium; Futami Okitama Shrine, a popular spiritual site known for Meoto Iwa, or the "Wedded Rocks"; Mikimoto Pearl Island; Yokoyama Observatory, which offers panoramic views of one of Japan's most beautiful ria coastlines; and VISON, a resort focused on relaxation, food and learning.

Mie Prefecture also offers a rich variety of culinary delights, including Matsusaka beef, Ise lobster, abalone, oysters and other seafood, as well as Japanese sake.

We warmly invite you to visit our booth and look forward to welcoming everyone involved in the cruise and tourism industry.
