Taiki Town Tourism Association
The Kumano Kodo was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 as part of the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range." Among these, the "Iseji" route, which runs from Ise Grand Shrine to the Kumano Sanzan, welcomed many travelers during the Edo period as the route taken by people heading to Kumano after completing their pilgrimage to Ise. Taiki Town is home to several mountain passes along the Iseji route that are particularly scenic and of great historical value.
Also, along the pilgrimage route, there is the historic Takihara Shrine, a branch shrine of the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine (Kotaijingu), which has long been revered as one of the "Motoise" shrines, and the area is filled with a sacred atmosphere that evokes a deep connection to Ise Grand Shrine.
Taiki Town, the town connecting these two sacred sites, Let us introduce you the "Beautiful Country, Beautiful Journey - A Culinary Pilgrimage to the Kumano Kodo Iseji Route," utilizing its unique resources: Kotaijingu Shrine, Takiharanomiya Shrine, and the Kumano Kodo Iseji Route.
Taiki is more than a destination.
It's a journey into the soul of Japan.
A place where nature, tradition, and flavor come together.
A place you'll want to return to—again and again.
