Tourism EXPO Japan 2025 Aichi/Central Japan

Furukawa Art Museum/ Tamesaburo Museum
The Furukawa Art Museum is ideally located just a 3-minute walk from Ikeshita Station and a 5-minute walk from Kakuozan Station on Nagoya's main subway line, the Higashiyama Line. It is approximately 20 minutes from the Shinkansen exit at Nagoya Station.
The museum's collection primarily features Japanese paintings from 1900 to 1980, including works by renowned artists such as Yokoyama Taikan and Uemura Shōen. However, one of its most exceptional holdings is the Book of Hours created in Paris in 1412 by the Master of the Boucicaut, a rare complete illuminated manuscript that draws visitors from across Japan.
The museum's annex, the Tamezaburō Memorial Museum (formerly the residence of Furukawa Tamezaburō, who laid the foundation for the museum's collection), is a traditional Japanese-style sukiya architecture. All two buildings and three structures on the premises are registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan. Each room is designed to host tea ceremonies, and the museum also features installation art exhibitions.
Visitors can enjoy matcha and traditional Japanese sweets while viewing the garden at the Sukiya de Café, located within the annex.
