Gamagori Tourism Association (Gamagori City Takeshima Area)
The Gamagori Tourism Association provides information dissemination, attraction, and promotion of tourism in the Takeshima area at the center of Gamagori City. In this area, there is 'Takeshima,' designated as a national natural monument, and the Gamagori hot springs overlooking the tranquil Mikawa Bay, where royalty and famous authors (such as Yasunari Kawabata and Haruki Murakami) have stayed and which has served as a setting for novels. Accommodation facilities include Hotel Takeshima, Gamagori Classic Hotel, Ten no maru, and Gamagori Hotel, where you can enjoy dishes made with deep-sea fish such as black throat sea perch, red sea bream, and other seafood like mehikari and takaashigani caught in Gamagori. Throughout the year, you can also experience fruit picking (strawberries in spring, melons, grapes, and peaches in summer, and Gamagori mandarins in autumn and winter), visit the 'Takeshima Aquarium,' which displays the best deep-sea fish in Japan, and enjoy attractions like Yaotomi Shrine, which enshrines Takeshima Benten, a power spot famous for matchmaking.
Since last year, we have started training English-speaking guides. We can introduce experiential programs that include guided tours of Takeshima, Yaotomi Shrine, the modern industrial heritage Gamagori Classic Hotel, and the seaside literary museum related to authors like Yasunari Kawabata. This year, we are creating experiential programs that offer experiences such as weaving Mikawa cotton, which Tokugawa Ieyasu spread throughout Edo, and meals utilizing local products. We are also developing programs inspired by the works of Haruki Murakami, who wrote novels set in Gamagori Classic Hotel.
Our association includes the following tourist facilities: - Hotel Takeshima- Gamagori Classic Hotel- Ten no maru- Gamagori Hotel- Takeshima Aquarium- Gamagori Orange Park- Takeshima Fantasy Hall- Uo-no-sato 'Tomarin'and more.
