Yokkaichi City

Yokkaichi City, located in the northern part of Mie Prefecture, is blessed with a natural harbor and prospered during the Edo period as the 43rd post station of the Tokaido road. The city's name comes from the fact that a market was held on days with the number "four."

After World War II, an industrial complex formed around Yokkaichi Port, and in recent years, the city has grown into the largest population center in Mie Prefecture, attracting a variety of companies. At night, the industrial complex transforms into a fantastical scene with illuminated lights, creating a mystical nightscape that has made it a hotspot among factory nightscape enthusiasts.

The surrounding area is also blessed with rich natural beauty, such as the Suzuka Mountains and Ise Bay. Despite being one of the prefecture's leading industrial cities, Yokkaichi boasts many relaxing and charming spots to explore.

The city is also known for "Yokkaichi Banko-yaki" pottery, exemplified by clay pots and teapots, and for being the largest producer of "Kabusecha" green tea in Japan. Additionally, there are plenty of delicious local specialties, such as "Yokkaichi Tonteki" (pork steak) and "Nagamochi" (a type of rice cake). Come, see, taste, and enjoy all that Yokkaichi has to offer!
