Eumseong Pumba Festival
Pumba is a word that appears repeatedly in the repeating parts of songs sung by beggars who used to go around the town and squares to beg for food, money, and other items in the past when they were poor. It doesn't have any particular meaning, but it is a word that always appears in beggar songs to keep the rhythm, and it is now used to mean beggar. However, these days, most beggars do not actually beg, but perform at events, festivals, and on stages.
The Eumseong Pumba Festival, held every year in Eumseong, is made up of programs that recall the difficult times of the past and show the performances of various beggars and their lifestyles.
The beggars who participate in the Eumseong Pumba Festival and perform various performances are representative beggars who are active in squares, festivals, and stages all over the country. Therefore, the National Eumseong Pumba Festival is full of lively and fun performances, and the sight of audiences laughing and having fun can be seen all over the festival venue.
Eumseong County, where the Pumba Festival is held, is located in the center of Korea. It is a 40-minute bus ride from Cheongju Airport and an hour from Seoul.
At the Pumba Regeneration Art Experience Village in Eumseong-gun, you can experience a variety of things, such as regeneration art and Pumba Gogochang.
You can also take a unique factory tour and experience making factory products.
There is also a large mart nearby, and many Korean and Eumseong products can be seen at the festival site.
