Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024

Yakushima

In 1993, Yakushima was registered as Japan's first World Natural Heritage Site along with the Shirakami Mountain Range. And last year we celebrated our 30th anniversary with joy.

Yakushima has many well-known and popular tourist spots, such as Mt. Miyanoura, which is the highest mountain in Kyushu; Jomonsugi Cedar, which is estimated to be anywhere from 2000 to 7200 years old; and Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine, which is famous as the setting for the animated film Princess Mononoke.
Yakushima is not only renowned for its beautiful mountains, but also for its clear water. There are several marine activities such as scuba diving, SUP, and kayaking that can be enjoyed year-round.

There are direct flights to Yakushima from Kagoshima, Osaka (Itami), and Fukuoka. You can also use marine transportations, Jetfoil (high-speed boats) and ferries, between Kagoshima and Yakushima.
