Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024

Kochi Visitors&Convention Association

Kochi prefecture is a hidden gem that is definitely off the beaten track.
It's one of those places that lots of people say they want to go to but never really make it.
Once you make it, you'll find lots of beautiful nature and unusual experience with the Kochi's rural culture and people.

Kochi prefecture is in the southern part of Shikoku, the smallest of Japan's four main islands famous for Shikoku Henro known as Pilgrimage of 88 sacred places. It was selected as one of Lonely Planet's Top 10 regions to visit in 2022. The most highlighted thing in Kochi is abundant and beautiful nature such as Pacific Ocean coastline with the length of 713km, Shimanto River known as "Japan's last remaining limpid stream", Niyodo river known as the clearest river in Japan, and deep forest covering 84% of its land (the largest ratio of all the 47 prefectures in Japan). In the given condition, Kochi is perfect place for nature activities such as hiking / trekking, cycling, canoeing, rafting, Yakata-bune river cruise, snorkeling, surfing, sea kayaking, camping and so on.

Kochi's signature food is 'Katsuo no tataki', bonito steak (skipjack tuna steak), which is delicious and healthy. It is very good to eat their sliced meat with lots of minced garlic and green onion placed over them or with a combination of soy sauce and Yuzu vinegar or just with some salt. Visitors can experience this dynamic way of making seared bonito in various parts of Kochi.

If you are not sure about next destination, highly recommend Kochi Japan!
