Nishinoshima Town is located on Nishinoshima Island, the second largest inhabited island of the Oki Islands. Sitting off the coast of Shimane Prefecture, this island is also home to Kuniga Coast, one of the most scenic spots in the archipelago. The magnificent Matengai Cliff (257m above sea level), the stunning Tsutenkyo Arch and other captivating natural scenery attracts many tourists, bringing approximately 39,000 visitors to the island annually.
Launched in 1968, Nishinoshima Tourism Association has been promoting sightseeing spots, food and drink establishment and accommodation facilities in Nishinoshima Town, and undertaking various activities to promote tourism development in the municipality. We organize various events and promotion campaigns, including Kuniga Biraki Festa, the annual curtain-raiser which kicks off the tourist season in April, and utilize social media to promote Nishinoshima Town to visitors from Japan and around the world. We work closely with tourism related entities in the municipality to promote tourism and local revitalization.
