Tourism EXPO Japan 2026
The Heart of Mie
"The Heart of Mie" refers to the four-municipality area spanning the central part of Mie Prefecture: Matsusaka City, Taki Town, Meiwa Town, and Odai Town. Easily accessible by train or expressway from Ise Jingu, it is the perfect place to stop by before or after your visit to the shrine.
Our region is rich in local specialties and gourmet delights nurtured by our unique climate and terrain, including world-famous Matsusaka Beef, local Matsusaka chicken yakiniku, Meiwa's hijiki seaweed, Taki's Ise-imo yams, and Oku-Ise yuzu citrus. Furthermore, Mie Prefecture is the third-largest producer of tea in Japan. Be sure to savor our deep-steamed green teas, known as "Ise Tea" and "Matsusaka Tea," grown in our region's lush, natural environment.
After exploring the historic castle town of Matsusaka or "Saiku"—the legendary site where imperial princesses once served Ise Jingu—you can enjoy endless activities: canoeing on the crystal-clear Miyagawa River, trekking through the magnificent nature of Osugidani Valley, or experiencing gourmet dining and relaxation at VISON, one of Japan's largest commercial resort facilities. Embark on a journey to Mie, where history, nature, cuisine, and unique experiences are all packed together. We invite you to discover a side of Mie you have yet to see by visiting "The Heart of Mie."
★ We are giving away special novelty items from our four municipalities to those who complete our questionnaire at "The Heart of Mie" booth! We look forward to seeing you there.
