Yumoto Choza
An authentic old private house ryokan, a masterpiece of Hida craftsmanship, built in a relocated 150-year-old old private house. The total zelkova structure around the entrance is particularly impressive.
Rooms: 26 rooms. All rooms have toilet air-conditioning, 19 rooms have a sunken hearth or brazier, 6 rooms have a bedroom (both with twin beds).
Baths: 4 different sources of spring water with different qualities are available, both inside and outside the hotel. All private baths are free of charge and can be used as many times as required.
There is a large public bath and a family bath (available 24 hours a day) with indoor and outdoor baths inside the building, and covered open-air baths 'Kawaranoyu' and 'Shizuku no Yu' outside the building.
Meals: Irori kaiseki cuisine is served. Emphasis is placed on actually using the sunken hearth. The main dish is Hida beef, a local speciality. Other dishes include grilled river fish and gohei-mochi (rice cakes), a local speciality. There are two types of restaurant: one for individuals and one for groups. Individuals can accommodate 1-10 people, while groups can accommodate up to 50 people at a time. All seats are sunken kotatsu.
