Oujima Campground
A Living Lab for Regional Resources, Immersive Learning, and New Ways of Working
Located on the remote island of Kume in Okinawa, Oujima Campground serves as a dynamic base for both workations and lerncations, with a strong, community-supported infrastructure to welcome visiting groups.
The site features a fully air-conditioned lounge with Wi-Fi and a whiteboard, making it ideal for seminars, research retreats, team offsites, and focused individual work. In collaboration with local businesses and the municipality, we offer a wide range of hands-on fieldwork opportunities aligned with SDGs and project-based learning (PBL). These include experiences in primary and secondary industries—like rice farming and traditional brown sugar making—as well as sustainability-focused exploration and cooperative learning with local residents.
For workation guests, evenings are elevated with access to "island gourmet" experiences: Kume Island Wagyu, local chicken, giant prawns, deep-sea oysters harvested using ocean thermal water, craft beer, and freshly roasted coffee beans—all contributing to an exceptionally satisfying stay.
As a small-scale facility, we pride ourselves on our flexibility and customization. Whether you're organizing a university seminar, corporate training, or educational tour, we provide comprehensive support—co-designing programs, aligning with your goals, and connecting you with local partners.
We warmly invite travel agencies and educators interested in creating immersive, place-based programs rooted in nature and local culture to visit us. Together, let's co-create your next learning or travel product in Kume Island—where the entire island becomes your classroom.
