The "Niikawa" region is a wide-area, stay-based tourist area consisting of three cities and two towns in the eastern part of Toyama Prefecture: Namekawa, Uozu, Kurobe, Nyuzen, and Asahi. With the snow-capped Northern Alps as a backdrop, the area offers beautiful scenery, including the "Spring Quartet" of rows of cherry blossom trees, tulips, and rape blossoms, and the "Flower Road" lined with two million tulips. Mysterious experiences include a mirage and the sea surface where firefly squids swim in swarms. The Niikawa area offers experiences that can only be found here, such as the beautiful hot springs of Unazuki Onsen, which boast one of the clearest waters in Japan and are said to be good for the skin.
