Mombetsu City in Hokkaido is centrally located along the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk, with
convenient access as it takes only 1 hour and 45 minutes to fly from Haneda Airport to Okhotsk
Mombetsu Airport.
Even in summer, you can experience the depths of Mombetsu's winter at the "Hokkaido Okhotsk
Ryuhyo Science Center," a museum themed around the ice floes. Additionally, there's "Seal
Land," the only facility in Japan dedicated to the protection of seals, and "Seal Sea Paradise,"
where you can actually interact with seals. These spots are perfect for families, couples, and
trips with friends.
In winter, the main attraction is ice floe sightseeing. The experience of dynamically moving
through and crushing the ice floes with the screw-shaped drill on the Garinko-go ship is
something you can only experience in Mombetsu.
