Awaji Island is located in the Seto Inland Sea and has a long rich history. "Records of Ancient Text (Kojiki)" says it was the first created island of Japan. Sumoto City is in the center of Awaji Island, has been prospered for economically, politically, and culturally since the 16th century as the main city in the island.
