Mie Cruise Promotion Conference / Yokkaichi Port Cruise Committee / TOBA PORT Cruise Ship Invitation Acceptance Council
In April 2018, Mie Prefecture established the Mie Prefecture Cruise Promotion Council to further enhance the cruise ship reception system and promote cruise ship passengers to other regions in the prefecture. Comprised of cities, towns, cruise ship attraction organizations, tourism organizations, and others, the council is working to enhance and strengthen the reception system at ports when cruise ships call in Mie Prefecture. In April 2024, the Silver Moon made its first port call at Toba Port in Toba City, and in May 2024, the Heritage Adventurer made its first call at Oyahama Beach in Shima City.
In May 2011, the Yokkaichi Port Cruise Committee was established to attract cruise ships to Yokkaichi Port, the largest industrial port in Mie Prefecture, in order to promote tourism. In 2018, Yokkaichi Port welcomed its first foreign cruise ship.Since then, we have been actively working to attract domestic and foreign cruise ships to Yokkaichi Port. Yokkaichi Port is located in Mie Prefecture, almost in the middle of Japan. From Yokkaichi Port, transportation access to various tourist attractions in Mie Prefecture is excellent, allowing passengers to enjoy attractive sightseeing in the port of call.
The Toba Port Cruise Ship Invitation and Acceptance Council was established on 23 January 2019 to promote the invitation and acceptance of large cruise ships in the Ise-Shima region as a whole.
It is made up of administrative bodies, tourism operators and ship-related parties in the Iseshima region, and is responsible for responding to port calls, attracting ships, and managing safety at port entry and departure. Toba Port is also known as the gateway to the sea, with the Marine Terminal at the port of disembarkation offering sightseeing to the remote islands of Toba and public transport by train and bus just a 7-minute walk away, making it possible to enjoy sightseeing in Ise and Shima in 30 minutes.
In the North area near Nagoya, there are Nagashima Resort, one of Japan's largest and most popular amusement parks, outlets, and hot springs; Nabana-no-sato, one of Japan's largest illumination and flower theme parks; Rokkaen, a valuable building representing the Meiji and Taisho periods; and the Gozaisho Ropeway, where beautiful seasonal scenery can be enjoyed, "Seki-juku," which prospered as the 47th post town on the Tokaido.
In the central area, there is "Takada Honzan Senshuji Temple," the first temple in Mie Prefecture to be designated as a national treasure, "Iga Ninja Museum" and "Iga Ueno Castle," the birthplace of the Iga ninja, and "Matsuzaka Castle" and " Gojoban Yashiki" in Matsuzaka City, famous for its Matsuzaka beef.
In the southern area , there are "Ise Jingu Shrine" and "Okage Yokocho", which are representative tourist attractions in Mie. The surrounding area is full of attractions, including Toba Aquarium, Futami Okitama Shrine, which is a power spot for matchmaking famous for its married couple rocks, Mikimoto Pearl Island, Yokoyama Observatory, which boasts one of the most beautiful Rias coastlines in Japan, and VISON, a resort with a theme of healing, food, and knowledge.
Mie Prefecture also offers a variety of culinary delights, such as Matsusaka beef, Ise lobsters, abalone, oysters, and other marine products, as well as Japanese sake.
