Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024

SHINPI TRAIL

The Shinpi Trail is a walking trail with a total length of about 115 km that connects Matsumoto and Takayama. The two towns of Matsumoto and Takayama, which were born from the natural blessings of the Hida Mountains (Japanese Northern Alps) in Chubu-Sangaku National Park, are connected by historical ancient roads and highways, and on the trail, there is an ancient road that goes over the Tokugo Pass that is said to be the Japanese Alps Classic Trail to Kamikochi, and the Nakao Pass that people of Shinshu and Hida have traveled to and from since ancient times as the Kamakura Kaido. It includes three mountain passes, the Hirayu Pass, where the people of the high mountains went to Hirayu to heal themselves. Many trails are currently being developed in Japan, but the Shinpi Trail is unique in that it is filled with the charm of the region's unique culture while enjoying full-scale climbing. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2025, and guided tours are also planned.
