Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024
Shirakawa Village
Shirakawa Village was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 as "Shirakawa-go and Gokayama Gassho-Zukuri Villages" and has attracted many tourists.
In 2019, 2.15 million tourists visited Shirakawa-go.
In particular, the Shirakawa-go Light-up Event, which is held only six nights a year in winter from mid-January to mid-February, transforms the snow-covered Gassho-zukuri Village into a fairy tale world through light illumination. We have established a pre-booking system for this event every year. In the future, we will also focus on active tourism, such as exploring Shirakawa Village by bicycle and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) at Hakusui Lake in Ooshirakawa Park.
