We are Shimanami Japan, a Destination Management Organization (DMO) dedicated to promoting the Shimanami & Yumeshima Kaido areas.
"Shimanami Kaido": A Scenic Cycling Route in Japan
The Setouchi Shimanami Kaido is a 70-kilometer bike route in Japan that spans a sea strait, connecting Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture with Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture. Designated as a National Cycle Route in 2019, this iconic path showcases the beauty of Japan and has become a magnet for cyclists worldwide.
"Yumeshima Kaido": Another Cycling Paradise Near the Shimanami Kaido
The Yumeshima Kaido is a 63-kilometer cycling course that stretches along the eastern side of the Shimanami Kaido. It connects the islands of Iwagi, Ikina, Sashima, and Yuge in Kamijima Town, Ehime Prefecture. Lately, the islands have been gaining popularity among cyclists in Japan. Enjoy the stress-free cycling experience on the Yumeshima Kaido, where traffic lights are nonexistent.
Key Features:
1. Island-Hopping Scenery: As you pedal along, enjoy breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea, adorned with numerous islands. The bridges linking these islands add to the route's allure.
2. Rental Bikes: Our organization, Shimanami Japan, operates 10 rental bike stations in the area. Conveniently pick up and drop off bicycles at these stations. Most locations also offer free car parks for self-drive itineraries or group tours.
3. Routes for All: Whether you're an expert or a beginner, there are several recommended routes. Customize your ride based on your schedule and physical condition.
Embrace the gentle ocean breeze and make cycling along the Shimanami & Yumeshima Kaido a memorable experience!
