Sabae City is located in the center of Fukui Prefecture, adjacent to Fukui City to the north and Echizen City to the south, and has a population of approximately 70,000. It is a manufacturing town with three major local industries: eyeglasses, textiles, and lacquerware. The Tannan area, which includes Sabae, is one of the few places in Japan where seven local industries are concentrated within a 10 km radius: Echizen lacquerware, Echizen Japanese paper, Echizen hammered blades, Echizen chests, Echizen pottery, eyeglasses, and textiles. Through year-round industrial tourism, we are working to create a sustainable production area.
