Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024
Amami archipelago Tourism and Products Association
Amami Islands are located halfway between Kagoshima and Okinawa.
They are made up of eight small inhabited islands: Amami-Oshima, Kakeroma-jima, Uke-jima, Yoro-jima, Kikai-jima, Tokuno-shima, Okinoerabu-jima and Yoron-jima.
These islands lie in the northern edge of the subtropical zone, and have rich subtropical forests and nature, which a lot of rare animals and plants inhabit.
Amami Islands were designed as a national park in 2017, and registered as a World Natural Heritage site in 2021.
