Tourism EXPO Japan 2026
Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA
Opening in spring 2027 in Ginza, Tokyo, the "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA" will be the first flagship venue born from the "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition" — an immersive art experience that has drawn a cumulative audience of over 500,000 visitors across nine cities in total: five in Japan and four overseas.
The "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition" has received the Excellence Award at the CJPF Awards 2025 and won the Gold Award (Gold Winner) at the internationally recognized MUSE Creative Awards 2026. It also ranked No. 1 in the art event and arts festival rankings on Asoview!, the museum and art event rankings on Let's Enjoy Tokyo, and the Kanto event rankings on Walker Plus.
The museum is an immersive digital art experience in which over 300 works by world-renowned ukiyo-e artists — including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, and Utagawa Kunisada — are brought to life through cutting-edge 3DCG animation and projection mapping across eight distinct immersive spaces. Masterpieces including "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and "Fine Wind, Clear Morning (Red Fuji)" from the series of Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji can be experienced through immersive three-dimensional visuals, soundscapes, and even scent.
Original ukiyo-e prints from the Edo period and reproductions are also on display, with multilingual commentary in Japanese, English, and Chinese, exploring the history of ukiyo-e and the culture of Edo. The museum also features a shop offering original goods developed in collaboration with long-established Japanese brands, as well as a gallery exhibiting and selling original ukiyo-e prints. Photography and video are permitted throughout the venue, inviting visitors to step into the dreamlike world of ukiyo-e and capture the experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to this new cultural destination, where the masterpieces of ukiyo-e — works that have captivated the world across centuries — come dynamically to life.
