Notice and Request for Cooperation Regarding the Introduction of Okinawa Prefecture's "Accommodation Tax"
Okinawa Prefecture will introduce an accommodation tax from February 2027 to promote sustainable tourism development and improve the quality of tourism.
This will be the first prefecture in Japan to adopt a fixed-rate system 2% of the accommodation fees, with a maximum of 2,000 yen per person per night), and will be implemented in cooperation with major municipalities within the prefecture.
