In March 2026, JR Hokkaido celebrated the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen. To showcase the grandeur of Hokkaido's landscapes and the unique character of its communities, JR Hokkaido operates a variety of sightseeing trains that allow passengers to fully immerse themselves in the region's charm. In addition, two new sightseeing trains—"AKAIHOSHI" and "AOIHOSHI"—will make their debut in 2027. Together with the extensive network of limited express trains connecting destinations across Hokkaido, they offer a special travel experience where the journey itself becomes part of the adventure.
