We, Heibonsha Map Publishing, are a map production company founded in 1980. Our origin lies in a desire to provide accurate and beautifully designed maps to accompany the encyclopedias published by Heibonsha. This year, we are celebrating our 45th anniversary.
For over four decades, we have specialized in map production for the education and publishing sectors, including encyclopedias, geography textbooks, and school atlases. Our strength lies in creating easy-to-read, easy-to-understand maps tailored to a wide range of uses—whether maps of Japan as a whole, individual prefectures, the world, or detailed regional areas.
At the heart of our work is editorial expertise. We believe that maps are not simply about presenting information, but about curating and designing content in a way that tells a story. Our years of experience allow us to produce maps that are not only accurate but also visually engaging and purpose-driven.
We are beginning to explore opportunities in the travel and tourism sector. As part of this effort, we are planning to develop map content that enhances the travel experience—such as route maps offering a bird's-eye view of cruise itineraries and ports of call, sightseeing maps optimized for brochures, and "memory maps" designed to serve as elegant keepsakes for travelers.
In addition to the high visual quality of printed maps, we can also provide digital solutions, including maps linked to encyclopedia content, multilingual versions, and more—flexibly tailored to meet your needs.
