"Chikori Village" and "Nigiwai Tokusankan" where you can enjoy shopping for local specialties, including Kurikinton, a Nakatsugawa specialty confection made from carefully hand-squeezed chestnuts and boiled sugar. "Naegi Castle Ruins" where you can enjoy spectacular 360-degree views from stone walls built to embrace a huge boulder, "Tsukechi Gorge" where you can enjoy waterfalls that are nicknamed "Blue River" because water is so clear. And also "Kashimo Meijiza" where you can see a local kabuki theater that are recognized as a Gifu treasure. There are places that stimulate curiosity, such as food, nature, and culture.
Magome post town, is an Edo period village. A sloping stone road runs through the town. There are many houses in the eaves of either side of the road. The turn on the steep cobbled road makes it assessable to people and horses, but designed to be difficult for enemies. It is a village lost in time. Many visitors come each year.
Although you can walk these towns on your own, in recent years, cycling tours have become popular. The prefecture has been become popular for sightseeing, nature, history, and cuisine. You can indulge your five senses while you tour around.
Nakatsugawa City is conveniently located about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Nagoya and about 30 minutes from Nagano (Hirugami), offering easy access to surrounding tourist attractions.
