Tourism EXPO Japan 2025 Aichi/Central Japan

Nishimino Regional Tourism Promotion Council

Ogaki is set in the middle of Nishi-mino in the western part of Gifu Prefecture. As the crossroads between east and west Japan, the city has become a center of culture and tradition. Blessed with a wealth of underground springs from
one of the largest artesian aquifers in Japan, it has been nicknamed 'The Water City.' Furthermore, this was the final destination written about in the master poet Matsuo Basho's journal, Oku-no-Hosomichi. The port ruins of Funamachi
with the Sumiyoshi lighthouse and river boats bring back memories of past traditions. In addition, the scenery of Oku-no-Hosomichi at the Ogaki Funamachi river port was designated as a National Scene Location in March 2014.
