Takachiho Town is located in northern Miyazaki Prefecture, almost in the center of Kyushu.
It is known as the "village of myth" because it is home to many sites said to be the setting for myths, such as Ama-no-Iwato, Amanoyasugawara, and Kushifuru-no-mine, as well as many shrines dedicated to gods.
