Kadena Town

Kadena Town - A Crossroad of History and Culture
Kadena Town, located on the west coast of central Okinawa Island, is home to the largest U.S. Air Force base in East Asia. This base occupies 82% of the town's area, making Kadena Town effectively the smallest town in Japan.

One of the town's unique attractions is "Michi-no-Eki Kadena," the only roadside station in Japan adjacent to a military base. This spot draws aviation enthusiasts and numerous tourists, offering a rare opportunity to observe military aircraft take-offs and landings up close, making it a must-see destination.

Kadena Town boasts rich natural beauty, including the Hija River, surrounded by mangrove forests where visitors can enjoy kayaking. Additionally, the town offers various family-friendly activities such as whale watching on the sea. The town is also renowned for its culinary delights, with numerous gourmet spots scattered throughout. In particular, Kadena Town is celebrated as a "Mecca for Hamburgers," featuring many delicious eateries.

Kadena Town is a place where the past and future intersect, offering a unique charm. We invite you to experience its diverse history, culture, and abundant nature.
