Echizen City is located between Kyoto and Kanazawa, and has long been a thriving manufacturing center. By train, Echizen Takefu Station, a new station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line, is convenient, and by car, the Takefu Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway is convenient.
There are two major tourist attractions in Echizen City: The first is the traditional industry that has been passed down from generation to generation. Echizen City is home to three traditional crafts designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry: Echizen washi paper, Echizen hammered blades, and Echizen tansu (chest of drawers). The second is ,above all, the "Echizen City's Three Local Gourmet Dishes. "Echizen Oroshi Soba," "Volga Rice," and "Takefu-Ekimae Chuka Soba. Echizen City is said to be the birthplace of Echizen Oroshi Soba, one of Fukui Prefecture's most popular local delicacies. Please visit Echizen City.
