Tourism EXPO JAPAN 2024
Frano city, Hokkaido
Since 2022, Furano City has been conducting research on snowfall and snow accumulation in collaboration with snow experts. The research has revealed that the Furano area, among the major ski resorts in Hokkaido, has an environment where light, dry snow falls and it is less likely to compact after accumulation. Starting from the 2023 season, Furano City has been predicting and announcing the "fluffiness and dryness index," a quantitative measure of powder snow, using its unique calculation method.
To help travelers and skiing enthusiasts enjoy their stay in Furano, we have devised a system to provide information in advance. Since 2023, we have been predicting and announcing the "fluffiness and dryness index" on a dedicated website, and we plan to release even more updated forecasts in 2024.
