KYOTO EDUCATIONAL TRIP

Kyoto Prefecture is a region filled with Japan's history and traditional culture, where approximately 743,000 students on school trips visit annually. Visiting Kyoto and experiencing its history and traditional culture will be a special and impactful experience for students, with significant opportunities for learning and emotional moments.

Kyoto City, an international tourism and cultural city, represents Japan's history as an ancient capital because of its dignified streets, temples, shrines, and gardens. And these make Kyoto the ideal place for educational purposes. Students can deepen their understanding toward history by walking through the historical area that has been the center of Japanese politics, culture, and religion for over a thousand years since the Heian capital relocation (A.C.794), and through experiencing the authentic allure unique to Kyoto.

In addition, there are four recommended areas just a short distance from central Kyoto, and students can engage in various experiential learning in the diverse environments;
The first one is "Kyoto by the Sea " the Northern part of Kyoto Prefecture where the San'in Kaigan UNESCO Global Geopark lies. Then "Woodland Kyoto" located in the middle of Kyoto Prefecture, the preserved landscapes of rural mountain areas. In the south of Kyoto Prefecture, there is " Kyoto Tea Country" that is the birthplace of Japanese tea. And the forth, " Kyoto Otokuni Bamboo Grove" which located the southwest side of Kyoto City, the origin of the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, is the story of princess from the moon, that is said to be the oldest story in Japan.
Activities in these areas offer excellent opportunities for students to understand the importance and delicateness of nature. With these experiences in nature, they can develop their understanding of the global environment at same time foster team-building and leadership skills.

Furthermore, Kyoto's traditional culture has charms to appeal students for their inquisitive minds. Authentic traditional cultural experiences, such as tea ceremony, ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), kimono dressing, and craft-making assist students to enrich their sense by learning its origins and practicing. Also, Kyoto excels ability to combine tradition with innovation. This has given rise to various modern cultural facets, including cutting-edge technology development, creative industries like film, anime, and gaming.
Through those experiences and interactions with local residents during traditional culture tours and visits, students can improve their intercultural understanding and communication skills.

Lastly, Kyoto's food culture which people can enjoy variety of local ingredients that nature in Kyoto provide can give students another wonderful experience.
Farmer experience programs include cooking and tasting of Washoku which was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage by themselves assist students to get local culture more closely. This kind of dietary education also enables students to create unforgettable memories and foster the deeper connections among them.
