Bibai City, Hokkaido
Bibai City in Hokkaido is located halfway between Sapporo City and Asahikawa City, and is conveniently located for access to Furano, Biei and New Chitose Airport.The city produces the largest amount of Haskap (blue honeysuckle) in Japan, and the longest straight road in Japan runs through the center of the city. Bibai style Yakitori and Torimeshi (a dish of chicken and rice) are also known as local dishes. Also, the open-air sculpture museum Arte Piazza Bibai, an art space by Kan Yasuda, who is a world-renowned sculptor born in Bibai and based in Italy, Miyajima Swamp (a Ramsar Convention registered wetland) where over 60,000 geese fly in, Tomei Park, a cherry blossom blooming spot, and Coal Mine Memorial Forest Park, a coal mine heritage, are just a few other places where you can relax and stay while being healed and close to the city.
